Studio warehouse for Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź - J building - information about the project
The subject of the project entitled "Studio warehouse for Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź - J building" is the reconstruction and expansion of building "J" located on the premises of the headquarters of Muzeum Sztuki. The actual construction works began in March 2017. The project includes the demolition of the existing building, which is in very poor technical condition and therefore serves only limited economic functions, up to the height of the window sills, a superstructure and expansion on an area of 80% of the land of the available, undeveloped plot adjacent to building, installation of full technical infrastructure, including security systems, alarms and purchase of necessary equipment for warehouses, studios and workshops. As a result of the project, a two-story building will be built, with a larger usable area intended for studio storage of works.
The main goal of the project is to adapt the facility into a studio warehouse for the needs of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, undertaken to achieve the global goal related to the protection of cultural heritage and the development of cultural resources in the country. The direct goal of the project is: contributing to the protection, preservation and sharing of cultural heritage and supporting cultural education through the adaptation (construction, reconstruction) of the "J" building of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź.
Economic and social effects of the project:
- planned annual increase in the number of visitors, including an increase in the number of tourists
- preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the region and building local awareness and bonds
- elimination of social barriers towards disabled people
- promoting knowledge about the EU through promotional and information activities carried out as part of the project
- launching innovative educational programs addressed to various age and social groups, not only from the city of Łódź, but also from other regions of the voivodeship and the country - implementation of the idea of an open and participatory museum
- reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and the resulting reduction in facility maintenance costs
- stimulating interest in culture and art in the local community
- creating a professional base for cooperation between artists and researchers through the revitalization of historic buildings
Total value of the project: PLN 9,439,006.66.
The project is implemented with funding from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program for 2014-2020.
Co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund amounts to: PLN 6,577,249.31.
Completion time: September 19, 2016 – June 30, 2018
The project also received funding from the Marshal's Office of the Lodzkie Region.
