Collection of 20th and 21st Century Art. Shifts

The only permanent feature of the Collection of 20th and 21st Century Art is change. The exhibition has been subject to shifts since there is not enough room to present all the works we would like to present at the same time. The shifts are also provoked by constant developments in art. The activity of contemporary artists continuously changes the view of previously created works. Thus, we are including the most recent works into our collection, which sometimes means radical shifts in meanings. The exhibition is supposed to constitute
an open structure – material for constructing a new story of the visitors’ own experience of art
and life. We invite the visitors to see how they find themselves within the experience offered by the ‘shifted’ exhibition at ms2. What will attract or repel them this time?

The guidebook Collection of 20th and 21st Century Art, awarded with Grand Prix Sybilla 2008, has a clear arrangement mirroring the architecture of the ms2 exhibition step by step; icons guiding through the four routes of the exhibition (“body, trauma, prosthesis”, “construction, utopia, politicization”, “eye, image, reality”, “object, fetish, phantasm”), alphabetical index of the artists that helps to find the works both at the museum and on the guidebook pages.
