Collective Practices- Instituting with Care. Lecture by Lucy Lopez

Current forms of prefigurative politics- in which modes of organising are reflective of, and responsive to the urgencies at hand- have a vital bearing on institutional work. How can our working practices reflect our programmes and our politics? In her talk Lucy Lopez discussed the forming of collectivities and counter-publics, and the tools these offer for instituting with care. 

Lucy Lopez is a curator, writer, and editor, currently Associate Researcher and Curator at Eastside Projects, Birmingham, Curator in Residence at Grand Union, Birmingham, and PhD candidate at Birmingham School of Art, 2016-19. She was previously Curator of Exhibitions and Research at BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht. She holds an MFA in curating from Goldsmiths, University of London, and co-founded the exhibition space and residency programme Jupiter Woods in 2014. Her research focuses on feminisms, care, and instituent practices. Recently, her writing has been included in Temporary Art Review, Art and the Public Sphere Journal and in the publication FORMER WEST, MIT Press.
