In the course of this encounter in August that accompanies the exhibition “The Inoperative Community II” film expert Bartosz Zając will discuss the context, in which movies have so far been screened in museum and gallery spaces. We will have an opportunity to learn how the way films are shown impacts our perception. We will also trace back the history of mutual relations between museums and cinema taking a closer look at aesthetic aspects and the reflection that accompanies films, which “escape from cinema theatres”.
The second part will be a seminar. Discussion will take Bartosz Zając article as a starting point to talk about the Avant-garde of political cinema written from the point of view of changing viewers’ contexts – arthouse cinema, a lecture room, a factory, TV, museum or private, intimate space at home.
