"obsada" is a new film production by Wendelien van Oldenborgh, who filmed it entirely in Łódź for the exhibition in Muzeum Sztuki. The film was made in cooperation with an all-female production crew. It is an attempt not only to review the history of erasing women from culture but also to create other, non-patriarchal narrative and work methods. A group bringing together female students, Ph D students and graduates engaged in this production come from the Łódź Film School. The change, that they are striving to accomplish, does not consist exclusively in simply replacing men with women. It happens in an open, improvised process of cooperation with van Oldenborgh, so sensitive to the context of the setting and the multi-voice of the team. Personal and collective experiences of women interact with film sets in Muzeum Sztuki (including the Neoplastic Room) and in the Film School.
With representatives of the collective, we will discuss the emancipatory nature of collective work, dispersed authorship, and empathy in action. Together we will speculate about the future of artistic work and production while looking for ways, places and ideas that could challenge the present order.
The event accompanies the exhibition "Work, Work, Work (Work)".
* Due to unpredictable weather conditions, the exact venue will be communicated this week.
