"The two of us will be staying at Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź. Each one of us is many and we have further developed into many more - paraphrasing the words of Deleuze and Guattari from "A Thousand Plateau", the second volume of "Capitalism and Schizophrenia". This schizophrenic splitting between the curator, theoretician, critic Katarzyna Oczkowska and performer, aspiring celebrity from the art world, virtual identity, previously known as pato-phenomenon or the cringe queen, of ArTVstka is the result of the system in which we function. Therefore, we will take a closer look at MS collections, feel them from different perspectives but always in affect. Art is not our goal but rather a tool which allows us to draw a lifeline; all real becomings do not end only in art but lead on; searching for exit lines but not by escaping into art; inventing all positive deterritorializations that will not re-territorialize in art."
Katarzyna Oczkowska - critic, curator, art historian, PhD student at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. ArTVstka's progenitor - "Sim" of the Polish art scene acting at the intersection of virtual and non-virtual space.
The aim of Safe as draft is to use artworks from the museum’s collections within Instagram. The project is based on the idea of "prototypes". Invited creators will work with the unique "database", which are resources of Muzeum Sztuki, using the tools available on the platform, such as posts, tags, lives, augmented reality (AR) filters, gifs and videos. Artists will treat the digitized museum collections as the titular "drafts" of their practices.
