Museum in a backpack. Games with modern art / Muzeum v batohu. Hry se současným uměním
Although the education departments of partner institutions: Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and Moravian Gallery in Brno have been exchanging experiences since 2016, the project "Museum in a backpack. Games with modern art / Muzeum v batohu. Hry se současným uměním" is their first joint venture. The cooperation aims to create teaching aid containing a set of instructions and props for independent exploration of contemporary art problems by viewers aged 7 and over during a study visit including a series of working meetings.
The study visit of the Education Department of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź to the Education Department of Moravian Gallery in Brno aims to confront the visual heritage of Poland and the Czech Republic in the avant-garde tradition and exchange experiences in communicating and educating about modern art in the Polish and Czech exhibition traditions. The summary of this visit and cooperation will be the prototyping of an "educational backpack". Two language (Polish and Czech) versions of the teaching aid will be prototyped. Works collected in the collection of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and the Moravian Gallery in Brno will provide model inspiration.
Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and Moravian Gallery in Brno are two significant museum institutions of transnational importance. The partner institutions are connected by their location (a large urban center, which is not the capital of the country and the resulting operating conditions) and the nature of the collections (an international collection of modern and contemporary art).
In November 2019, a five-person delegation of educators from Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź will conduct a 7-day study visit to Moravian Gallery in Brno. A working team was established to implement the project, whose goal was to prototype an "educational backpack". During a series of working meetings (5 days), the substantive assumptions (scenarios of tasks and content catalog) of the "educational backpack" will be created, taking into account inspirations from two collections: Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and Moravian Gallery in Brno. They will also be accompanied by a prototype copy of an "educational backpack", created by a joint team of educators from Łódź and Brno. The working team will develop guidelines for the designer who will prepare the detailed design of the "educational backpack" in the future. After returning from Brno, designers selected by the Museum of Art in Łódź will create an executive design of an "educational backpack". This process will be consulted with the Czech partner.
Cooperation of the Education Department of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and the Education Department of Moravska Gallery in Brno.
